Regional Action for Combating Forest and corruption

Kolasin, 09.05.2019. - Within the project "Regional Action for Combating Forest  and corruption", the workshop was held in Kolasin and was attended by the most relevant representatives of the forestry sector, such as the general Secretary of Forestry and the Director of Forest administration as well as representatives of the concession holders, NGO sector, local governments, forestry experts  and   all members of Coordination committee for monitoring the action plan for suppression of illegal activities in forestry.

 

The workshop presented the project "Regional Action for Combating Forest  and corruption" with a special emphasis on the project’s objectives and the activities that should contribute to action for combating forest  and corruption. Representative of Coordination committee for monitoring the action plan for suppression of illegal activities in forestry  Mr Milisav Andjelic , has outlined the results of their activities in the previous period. In the workshop also, Mr Franc Ferlin, the forestry expert presented the requirements of FSC standards for forests management with a reference to illegal activities.

 

Representatives of the inspection authority from forest sector and the concessionaire have pointed to a number of problems when it comes to preserving forests and preventing illegal activities. Apart from the need for an extra education and changes in laws, highlighted importance of better coordination of all those who can contribute to the protection.
