Protection and preservation of the water and natural resources of the Tara River

The project "Protection and preservation of the water and natural resources of the Tara River" is aimed at identifying and assessing the hydro-morphological state of the Tara River and implementation of the measures for controlling of the pollution and revitalization of its natural characteristics and protection of the fish fund, with its flow in Montenegro (146km). The project aims to improve the status of degraded watercourses, improve capacities and protect the autochthonous fishery in the area of ​​Mojkovac and Kolasin municipalities, and to strengthen the awareness of the local population about the importance of preserving the water and sustainable usages of the natural resources of the river.

 

General objective: Revitalization of the natural values ​​of the Tara River and sustainable valorization of river resources in the function of contributing and welfare to local communities;

 

Specific objectives:

 

1. To improve the measures for protection against pollution and anthropogenic pressures of the Tara River watercourses;

2. To improve the hydro-morphological state of the troughs and shores by implementing short-term measures;

3. Strengthen the capacity of the users of the fish fund and their hunting services for the fight against unauthorized fishing activities;

4. To contribute to the development of eco-tourism services related to sport fishing in the area of ​​Mojkovac and Kolašin;

5. Strengthening the awareness of the local population about the importance of conserving water and the need for active inclusion for the protection of Tara's water resources.

 

The project "Protection and preservation of water and natural resources of the Tara River" is realized by the Association of sport fishing organizations of Montenegro and NGO Green Home. The project was financed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development within the second public call for the Small Grants Program of the project "Water Management in the Drina River Basin" and it lasts 10 months.
