Environmental reporting media Hub - NORTH

Green Home, in cooperation with RTV Pljevlja and the Center for Democracy and Human Rights (CEDEM), started the implementation of the Media Center for Environmental Reporting - NORTH project. The project is being implemented at a time when Montenegro is expected to intensify its efforts on harmonization and enforcement of environmental legislation, especially in the areas of waste management, water quality and climate change, as well as media freedom enhancement.

The overall objective of the project is to strengthen participatory democracy and the EU integration process of Montenegro by empowering and stimulating media professionalism and investigative journalism in the field of environmental protection and the negotiation chapter 27.

The specific objectives of the project are to build the capacity of journalists in the northern part of Montenegro to investigate and report on key environmental topics in a professional and ethical manner, using free access to IT tools and databases, and cooperating with the civil sector in this area.

Primarily target group(s) of this project are media professionals, as well as students of journalism from the Faculty of Political Science, free-lance and active citizen journalists, but also  CSOs dealing with environmental issues from northern Montenegro.

The project is implemented with the financial support of the European Commission through the Media Professionalization Program in Montenegro. The duration of the project is two years, from January 2020 to January 2022.
