Assessment of compatibility of ecologically acceptable flow concept of water legislation in Montenegro

Podgorica, 06 March 2011 - NGO Green Home is organizing one day workshop "Assessment of compatibility of ecologically acceptable flow concept of water legislation in Montenegro" which will be held on Wednesday, 07th of March in the premises of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, at 10am.

 

Workshop will be organized within DASH Initiative for Sustainable Hydropower in the Dinaric arch, which is being implemented by the NGO Green Home and WWF, with the aim to facilitate the protection of priority habitats in the Dinaric arch and their preservation from further loss due to use of river hydropotentials.

 

The aim of the workshop is to discuss about legislation quality when it comes to water issues, to consider the institutional capacity, and to collect suggestions about the ecological acceptable flow of water to the Lake Skadar Basin in Montenegro.

 

Workshop will include two sessions:

 

1) Ecologically acceptable flow (EAF) - concepts and ways of calculation and

 

2) Discussion of the EAF model with regards to Montenegrin conditions.

 

The workshop will be attended by at least 15 participants, mainly representatives of the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Water Management and Water Management Inspectorate, as well as experts in the field of hydrology and environmental protection.

 

Workshop will be facilitated by Mr. Branko Vucijak, NGO Green Home associate.
