The impact of large energy projects in Montenegro on the environment

Podgorica, 26 April 2012 – NGO Green Home is organizing a round table event "The impact of large energy projects in Montenegro on the environment" under the frame of the project "Transparency and participation" on Friday 27th April. The roundtable will be held in the premises of the Press Centre, starting at 11am.

 

With this round table we want to draw public attention to the announced major energy projects and the need for harmonization of economic, energy needs with sustainable use of natural resources. Special attention will be paid to the planned construction of 400kV transmission line from Lastva Grbaljska to Pljevlja with one kilometer wide corridor, passing through the zone of two national parks, Lovcen and Durmitor, UNESCO protected areas (Durmitor and Tara) and habitats that have international importance and value of are representing one of the requirements for membership in the European Union.

 

Roundtable is being implemented within the project "For transparency and participation", which is supported by the United State Agency for International Development (USAID), Good Governance Activity Programme in Montenegro, which implements the East West Management Institute.
