The project “Improvement of ranger services for better protection of Komovi Nature Park” aims to strengthen the capacity of services operating in the area of Komovi Nature Park, both technically through procurement of equipment, and theoretically through training in order to enable their timely and adequate response to fire risks in this area.
Considering the mapped risks of fire occurrence in this area, the low capacities of both the relevant services and the managers, as well as the significant importance of proactive action in areas that have the status of protected natural assets, this project contributes to better preparedness for action in fire situations.
Komovi Nature Park is abundant in forest ecosystems, and the Basic Assessment of the State in Komovi Nature Park has established that more than half of the forest ecosystems in the park have a risk of fire occurrence in categories ranging from medium to high risk.
Through the implementation of this project:
• We will procure firefighting equipment for the ranger service of Komovi Nature Park
• We will conduct two training sessions for rangers
• Through various communication channels, we will carry out a promotional campaign to inform the public about the contents of the project or the thematic area to which the project relates.
We are implementing the project in collaboration with the Protected Areas Agency of Podgorica and Komovi Nature Park, which manage this protected area.
The project is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro.
