Through the project “Prevent Wildfires from Private Properties”, we aim to reduce the risk of wildfires in rural and suburban areas of the Capital City of Podgorica, with a particular focus on preventing fires caused by the burning of green waste on private properties. The project seeks to raise public awareness about the risks associated with this practice, promote sustainable alternatives for managing green waste, and strengthen cooperation with the institutions responsible for fire prevention and protection.

By combining educational activities, practical training, public awareness campaigns, field monitoring, and dialogue with relevant institutions, the project contributes to reducing wildfire risks, protecting natural resources, and strengthening environmental awareness among citizens. At the same time, it provides a foundation for improving public policies and developing long-term solutions that support safer and more sustainable green waste management.

Through the active involvement of citizens, local communities, and relevant institutions, the project contributes to biodiversity conservation, reduces the negative impacts of climate change, and enhances the safety of people and their property in the rural and suburban areas of Podgorica.

The project is being implemented within the framework of the Regional Programme on Local Democracy in the Western Balkans 3 (ReLOaD3), funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
