Podgorica, April 22, 2019._ The NGO Green Home, in cooperation with the socially responsible company EMCG, Cleanliness, Zelenilo, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Zero Waste Montenegro, Dinarides Parks – the network of protected areas of the Dinarides, organized an action to clean the Ribnica riverbed and coastal vegetation. .

Earth Day was celebrated in this way, and this action aimed to draw attention to the problems of waste management and river pollution, as well as to raise awareness of the necessity of preserving and improving the state of the environment.

It seems that Ribnica has been forgotten and is used for the illegal disposal of municipal waste, and was once a symbol of Podgorica. Every day, it can be seen that citizens dispose of waste in places that are not intended for it, which speaks of the insufficiently developed awareness of citizens, but also the weakness of the system to solve the issue of waste management in an efficient manner.

In addition to municipal waste that “decorates” the Ribnica riverbed and the coastal vegetation, a big problem for the riverbed is the disposal of oily substances and detergents.

In the coming period, we will try to obtain adequate permits so that, in cooperation with the company EMCG DOO, we will be able to apply EM technology and mitigate water pollution. EM technology is based on the principle of effective microorganisms that decompose sludge and neutralize unpleasant odors through the fermentation process
