The seven-day ecological camp that the NGO Green Home, with its partners INCA from Albania and
ERA from Kosovo, organized in the Grebaje Valley in the Accursed Mountains National Park has been
completed. The camp was an opportunity to gather students of biology, ecology, and other natural sciences from Montenegro, Albania and Kosovo, and to gain knowledge about the various values of the Prokletije massif.

Through interesting lectures, as well as a field visit to different localities within the national park, the participants had the opportunity to hear lectures from experts about different groups of organisms
and species that characterize this area, but also to get to know the cultural sights of Plav and Gusinje.
At the camp, there were talks about the birds of Montenegro, with reference to those that live in the
Accursed Mountains National Park and they were observed at Lake Plav. At Bogićevica, participants learned about the most important species of amphibians and reptiles, their importance in the food chain. In Grebaje, they learned about the insects of this area, which they had the opportunity to collect and
analyze. Apart from the field, the participants got to know the flora of Accursed Mountains in the botanical garden Velemun, where biology professor Mulutin Praščević guided us.

One of the particularly interesting presentations was about the mammals that are present in these regions. In addition to camping in tents, which was a new experience for many, the participants had the
opportunity to try their hand at hiking, and after a presentation on the mountains that surround
Grebaje and are an integral part of the Accursed Mountains massif, as well as the rules of behavior on the
mountain, they climbed on one of the peaks of Volušnica, Maja e Can, located at an altitude of 1876m.

The eco camp was organized through the project “Prokletije – cross-border science classroom”, which
aimed to strengthen good neighborly relations in the wider area of Prokletije through strengthening
cooperation, student exchange, education and future research in the field of nature protection.
The project is supported by the Western Balkans Fund and the European Union, as part of the call for
proposals for regional projects “Support for the promotion of regional activities of civil society in the
Western Balkans”.
