Through its activities in the Komovi nature park, the NGO Green Home provides continuous support to the managers of this protected area.
Yesterday (May 23, 2024), valuable firefighting equipment was donated to the rangers of this protected area, which is managed on the territory of Podgorica and Andrijevica by the Agency for the Management of Protected Areas in Podgorica and the Komovi Nature Park, which includes six sets of firefighting overalls and boots, brooms for extinguishing fires , backpacks, half masks, filters and fire helmets.
The first in a series of planned trainings was held to strengthen the capacities of the ranger service for the best possible response to fires at the very beginning of the summer season, which is usually characterized by a large number of fires. The training consisted of a theoretical and practical part, which was held in the park itself.

It is estimated that in the Mediterranean region, the average annual size of burned areas has quadrupled in the last 50 years, and areas in Montenegro are also at great risk. Therefore, the rangers’ attention was drawn to the need to implement measures to reduce the risk of fire, as well as the activities that need to be implemented if a fire does occur. They are also familiar with how to use the equipment donated to them.
The activities were held within the project “Improvement of ranger services for better protection of the Komovi Nature Park”, which is implemented in cooperation with the Agency for the Management of Protected Areas in Podgorica and the Komovi Nature Park, and which is financially supported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Montenegro.
