NGO Green Home started the implementation of a series of educational workshops for primary and secondary schools on the topic of proper waste management with a workshop at the Private Educational Institution “Gimnazija Podgorica”.

During the interactive session, students were introduced to the “door-to-door” waste collection system, its advantages, as well as the harmful impact of poor waste management on the environment. We introduced the students to the types of plastic that are the most harmful, the recycling process and the ways in which responsible behavior, when it comes to waste disposal, can reduce the ecological footprint. Students also received information about the state of waste management in Montenegro, including information about recycling yards and materials that can be separated for recycling.

The workshop took place in a dynamic atmosphere, with constant interaction and discussion, during which students asked questions, shared opinions and showed great interest in this ecological topic. Their engagement confirms that young people recognize the importance of environmental protection and want to actively contribute to positive changes.

The participants presented their observations and suggestions when it comes to this area. Therefore, they believe that the number of containers in urban areas is insufficient, that the infrastructure for selective waste collection is insufficiently developed, and that it is necessary to inform citizens more about the harmful consequences of the accumulation of plastic and other types of waste.
