After the supervisors who are engaged in the park finish their shift and go home, tractors with material from illegal builders enter the Grebaje valley and illegal construction begins. We had the opportunity to see for ourselves recently, when representatives of the NGO Green Home, together with students from Montenegro, Kosovo and Albania, were on a seven-day camp and spent days and nights in this valley.

It is a devastating fact that the building, which is under construction, was already “sealed” at the moment when we visited it, which can be seen from the photos and videos that we have attached. This indicates that the representatives of the national park reported the same to the competent inspection, the competent inspection visited the building and prohibited further construction, but despite all this, the construction continued. In order to build the building, the trees had to be removed beforehand, and the photo shows the starting points for more buildings that are planned to be built in addition to the ones already built.

Bearing in mind that the responsibilities of the PE for National Parks of Montenegro in terms of illegal construction end when they are reported to the competent inspections, we hereby appeal to the PE for National Parks to introduce a third shift for this part of the park in order to physically prevent the importation of construction materials into the valley ant therefore the illegal construction.

We call on the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism to urgently react and remove the facilities that were illegally built in the Grebaje valley and to stop any further illegal construction in this area.

There are already a large number of illegally built buildings in the valley of Grebaje, and accelerated pressure on this area by such half-hearted reactions of the competent inspectorates must not be allowed.
