On the occasion of the International Coastal Cleaning Day, NGO Green Home organized a beach cleaning action last weekend in Buljarica. The Green Home team with 40 young people and volunteers participated in the action, and more than 40 kilograms of waste were collected.
The International Coastal Cleaning Day in Montenegro is organized by the NGO Zero Waste Montenegro in cooperation with numerous non-governmental organizations, international institutions, public companies and citizens. Along with the cleaning action, a waste audit was carried out, i.e. collection of data on waste and its categorization according to types and brands. All collected data is used for analysis and further activities in this area.
In addition to the cleaning, two workshops were held as part of the action, which gave the participants the opportunity to creatively express their experience of nature and the importance of its preservation, using materials collected during the action.
The problem of waste management in Montenegro is large and requires constant attention and engagement of all citizens, and this type of action aimed not only at physical cleaning of the area, but also at raising the awareness of citizens, as well as encouraging greater engagement of all in the preservation of natural resources.
The action was organized as part of Cleanup Montenegro – an informal network of non-governmental organizations and civil society organizations, whose primary goal is to engage civil society in order to mitigate waste pollution and suppress waste generation throughout Montenegro.
