The snowmaking project in Kolašin is another downfall of the state to the detriment of nature

The project to build a water supply system to provide the necessary quantities of drinking water, sanitary needs, fire protection, and snowmaking for the ski resorts “Kolašin 1600” and “Kolašin 1450” is yet another downfall of the state to the detriment of nature.

The reactions of the residents of Mušovića Rijeka, who have repeatedly prevented contractors from accessing the source of the Ljevaja River, where part of the water supply and snowmaking system for the mountain centers on Bjelasica is planned to be built, are completely understandable and expected.

With this project, the state plans to spend over 10 million euros of citizens’ money on a project for which no feasibility study has been carried out, and it is not certain that it is the best solution for the existing needs of snowmaking on ski slopes or for water supply.

This kind of behavior continues the rush and hasty decisions of those in charge, often resulting in projects for which there is no justification, neither economically nor ecologically.

The process of adopting the Environmental Impact Assessment Report for this project, which received numerous comments from citizens and ecologists, and for which several alternatives were made, indicates that this project is controversial on several grounds.
