NGO Green Home held an environmental camp in the Grebaje Valley

NGO Green Home, in cooperation with partner organizations ERA and INCA, organized a five-day environmental camp in the Grebaje Valley in Prokletije National Park from September 9 to 13.

One of the unique aspects of Prokletije is its location at the tri-border area of Montenegro, Albania, and Kosovo. Therefore, the goal of the camp was to connect students and nature enthusiasts from these three countries with a focus on nature protection.

During their stay in the untouched nature, students had the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge through expert presentations on topics such as: the Balkan lynx and the importance of the Prokletije area for this rare species, Natura 2000 habitats of Prokletije, and the protected and rare species of Prokletije. Additionally, the camp program included a cultural and historical tour through Plav and Gusinje as well as a hiking tour to Volušnica.

The special importance of this camp lies in the fact that young people gained valuable experience from their multi-day stay in untouched nature, where they had the opportunity to encounter wild animals, endemic butterfly species, and unique natural phenomena. These experiences significantly enriched their lives, encouraging them to care for the environment in the future and pass on the acquired knowledge to their surroundings.

We are delighted with the camp as it was an ideal opportunity for young people to experience the importance of preserving natural values such as the Prokletije massif and to exchange experiences and knowledge, fostering closeness among students from Montenegro, Albania, and Kosovo, which was achieved in the past days.

The camp was organized within the project “Cross-Border Science Classroom – Phase II,” supported by the Western Balkans Fund.
