Extended producer responsibility (EPR scheme) is a principle that implies that
the manufacturer is responsible for the entire life cycle of the product as well as the packaging that he puts on the market.
Through this project, we will consider the possibilities of applying the EPR scheme when it comes to
end of life car tires, given that the problem with the amount of tires and unacceptable methods
delays or manipulations thereof, is getting bigger.
The existing waste management system does not recognize the importance of waste tires, so they are
often in large quantities dumped in nature, beside the roads, on illegal sites
landfills, and there is also the problem of burning tires, which leads to the emission of a number of dangerous substances.
For the stated reasons, we will conduct an Analysis of the application of the EPR scheme for waste tires in the region and
in the countries of the European Union, which we will use as a basis for discussion with the related
parties that we will present during the implementation of project activities.
Project Extended producer responsibility on the example of waste tires in Montenegro,
is supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Ecology, Sustainable Development and Development of the North.
