Bijelo Polje, 11.05.2019. godine_NGO Green Home with the residents of the village of Lijeska, which is 30 km from Bijelo Polje, organized a gathering of citizens called “Resistance of the residents to the construction of the planned small hydroelectric power plant on the river Lještanica.”

The aim of the gathering is to acquaint all interested parties with the views of local communities regarding the planned construction of the small hydro on the Lještanica River and to draw attention to the harmful consequences of the construction of the small hydro.

More than 50 locals gathered in the village of Lijeska today, who are unanimous in their opinion that they do not want the construction of a small hydroelectric power plant on the “Lještanica” river. It is important to point out that the residents of Bukovica and Plav also joined the gathering and gave their support to the residents of Lijeska. They clearly pointed out that they will support everyone in the fight against the construction of the small hydro, that the local population is unanimous and that they will not allow further taking and destruction of rivers.

Two hydroelectric power plants were built on the Lještanica river and with the existing small hydro Vrelo downstream, they mean water impoverishment in the entire Lještanica watercourse.
