Protecting nature from the harmful effects of ragweed

The project “Protecting nature from the harmful effects of ragweed” aims to reduce the
population of ragweed (Ambrosia artemissifolia) and protect indigenous ecosystems
through educating the population about the importance of controlling this weed, invasive
and allergenic species and its harmful effects on indigenous ecosystems, crops and health.

As part of the online campaign, two educational visuals were prepared – Let’s
eradicate ragweed and Why it is important to remove ragweed. The visuals
are promoted on social networks, and contain information about the appearance
of ragweed, its habitat, harmful effects on nature and human health, as well as
instructions on how to remove it.

Educational posters on ragweed were made and distributed to the most visited
locations in the territory of Podgorica, the Municipality of Danilovgrad and the
Skadar Lake National Park as locations with the largest populations of ragweed.
The posters are framed and distributed to various institutions such as post offices,
hospitals, health centers, schools, and placed there in busy and visible places, so
that as many citizens as possible can be informed about the harmful effects of this
type.

The project was realized during July, August and September 2019.
