Tackling single-use plastics in the Adriatic region through public and private action

Project aims at tackling single-use plastic in Adriatic region through public and private action. It will be implemented through two Initiatives implemented in selected Municipalities in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro: Low Plastic Zone initiative and Green Procurement initiative. In Montenegro activities will be implemented in Municipality of Kotor.

Law Plastic Zone initiative aims that businesses from the HORECA sector in selected Municipalities in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro successfully reduce their consumption of disposable Single-use Plastic products (SUPPs) by implementing tailored SUPPs reduction/prevention measures.
Green Procurement Initiative aims contribution of the Municipalities engaged in the Low Plastic Zone initiative to the reduction of SUP waste by introducing green criteria in the procurement procedures for catering services, vending machines, and the organization of large events.

Project has partnership with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) and will replicate the Low Plastic Zone (LPZ) initiative successfully implemented by GIZ within the “Integrated Waste Management and Marine Litter Prevention Programme in the Western Balkans’’ programme.
