The project’s aim is to empower civil society in Montenegro to influence the process of rapprochement with the EU by strengthening public participation in decision-making in the area of ​​climate change.

This project specific aim is to build the capacity of CSOs in Montenegro to be active participants in the EU accession process and to influence policies related to climate change through supporting capacity building for smaller CSOs with a focus on climate change, energy and sustainable development.

As part of the project, we plan to improve the capacities of civil society organizations that deal with environmental protection in the field of preparation and development of the legislative framework, policy research and public advocacy (for contributing to the EU integration process in the field of climate change), as well as to increase the legitimacy of CSOs in the field climate and energy policies and improve dialogue with national stakeholders (national and local authorities, experts, economic sector and media);

In addition, in order to support and strengthen smaller, less developed CSOs, a grant scheme focused on climate change, energy and sustainable development will be implemented, through which we plan to support eight organizations from Montenegro in the implementation of their projects.

The project was supported by the Delegation of the European Union in Montenegro through the IPA Program for the Development of Civil Society 2016, Montenegro and the Ministry of Public Administration and lasts 30 months, from March 2018 to the end of August 2020.
